FAC Family News: October

Heart to Heart

There hasn’t been a lot of time to get out with my cameras and capture the changing colors, but even a single day in the Beartooths and Yellowstone NP was enough to fill my memory cards with an incredible display of brilliant Fall foliage.

At one point, I found myself thinking – the yellow, orange and red leaves we search for, look the way they do because the photosynthesis is shutting down. In other words, the transition of green leaves turning into a rich kaleidoscope of colors, is actually the picture of a leaf that is slowly dying.

Beauty in the midst of death seems like an oxymoron. And yet, that’s the actual story line of the Good News that Jesus came to bring.

“The Spirit of the LORD God is upon me... to bring good news to the poor (in spirit); He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives... to comfort all who mourn... to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit; so that they may be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.” Isaiah 61:1-3

In light of the events in this past week, may we take to heart all that Jesus offers us; the great exchange in which He takes our sins, our failures, our weakness and troubles; and carries them for us, so that we might be clothed in His goodness & righteousness, fully acceptable to our heavenly Father. Jesus is the reason, our tears can dance (Romans 5:3).

Pressing onward & upward for His great glory (Phil.3:14).
